For background you may want to view "Bad Combo - Ataxia-M91-MiniVangater": http://www.youtube.com/v/yAm37qbJJeY?hl=en&fs=1

Unbelievably, my loaner power chair got stuck on my van
lift and while I was trying to get it unstuck the lift started going up. I could not stop it and ended up snapping the platform off.

The best I can figure is that the chair's wire bundle got caught on
the lift controller, activating it and snapping both. I don't know if the lift can be fixed and I have no way to transport the chair.

The VA paid to have the power chair fixed; but I still have no way to transport it. If the lift cannot be fixed it doesn't make sense to put a new lift in a 17 year old van. We have appointments at Ride-Away tomorrow & Quirk Auto on Saturday to explore options.

My request for an adaptive vehicle grant (VA 21-4502) is still undecided. BraunAbility is has a closeout special on their 2010 Dodge & Chrysler adapter vans (up to $7500). Ride-Away is a BraunAbility dealer, but the sale ends 4/29/11.

The appointment with Quirk is to discuss whether the Ford Transit Connect can be appropriately adapted.

Please pray that the VA would rule favorably on the 21-4502 request (although it is highly unlikely they will make a decision before 4/29) & that we make the right decisions about a van replacement.
